Many volunteer out in the community and over 100 people volunteer their time and talent at Holy Cross to help make us who we are. Because of this we have many opportunities for you to volunteer your time and talent along side us. Below are just some of the many ways you can get involved.
Adult Formation. The lifelong process of growing in our relationship with God, self, others, and all creation. Members assist with scheduling and programming under the direction of clergy. Some also teach classes. |

Altar Guild. Teams of 3-4 church members meet each week to prepare both the church and the chapel for services. The teams are rotated so the work is spread among many. |
Archive Committee is in charge our archiving our records, photographs and more. |
Art Committee plans and presents a variety of art exhibits in the gallery throughout the year. The committee also maintains the inventory of art pieces owned by the church and serves as a consultant for church beautification projects. |
Children's Chapel. There are opportunities to lead our children in Bible stores that relate to the Episcopal Church calendar, liturgy and their personal lives. |
Church of The Advocate helps the homeless in Asheville, NC. Members prepare, take and serve a meal once a month plus oversee the donations of clothing. |

Coffee Hour. The church provides juice and coffee and members host and provide refreshments. It's different members every week and you sign up in advance. |
DOK - The mission of the Order is the extension of Christ’s Kingdom through prayer, service and evangelism. There is a process to join and members very much enjoy fulfilling this mission. |
Finance Committee advises the Vestry on all financial matters. It also tracks our investments, prepares budgets and more. Help is always welcome. |
Flower Guild develops the weekly donation list, process the donation forms, order the flowers and work in pairs to arrange the flowers weekly. |
Foyer Groups are small groups that meet monthly in each other's homes for a meal. You can join a Foyer Group and help is needed organizing the them. |
The Funeral Committee assists the Parish Administrator with putting together funerals that are held at Holy Cross. This can include arranging the reception, preparing bulletins and working with the family to make sure this day is exactly what they wish. |
Ground Force meets weekly to cut the grass, string trim and blow the sidewalks and driveway. There are other special days like mulching and leaf clean up day. |
Handbells. This popular group is usually full but you can put yourself on a waiting list or even possibly substitute sometimes. |
We have a true restaurant style kitchen and this group keeps the equipment in working order, orders supplies when needed and just keeps a general eye on the kitchen to make sure everything is in working order. |

Many of our members do Mobile Meals routes. The website for the one in our home county of Polk is called Meals on Wheels. Many of our members live in Spartanburg County and that chapter is Mobile Meals. |
Newcomers work with new members and visitors to bring them into our Parish Life. This can be visits, introducing them to other members who have interests similar to theirs to simply being a friend to someone who may have just moved here. |
Prayer Ministry members lift up prayers to anyone needing them for any reason. This can be alone, together and is done via many forms. |

Properties Committee oversees the various groups and individuals who care for our property. They also meet with repair people to get estimates and sometimes perform simple repairs themselves. |
Property Brothers and Sisters perform basic repairs to the interior and exterior of our building. Members have different skills and more are always welcome. |
Race to The Head of the Class is our annual 10K and 5K run that raises money for our Scholarship Fund. We always need help making breakfast for the runners, manning the course and making everyone feel welcome. |
Stewardship is about giving or tithing to the church. This group plans the stewardship year and then runs the stewardship campaign. |
Thermal Belt Outreach is a local organization that assists those in need with food, shelter and financial assistance. Many of our members help in the office, the food pantry and their children's programs. |

Wednesday Dinners are our monthly feast together in the parish hall. Help is needed preparing the meal, setting up tables and clearing up afterward. |
Youth Formation is about helping our youth grow their relationship with God. Teachers provide classroom instruction, mentor the youth, take them on field trips and more. |
