BBQ at The Rectory
Father Robert started doing BBQs on the lawn at his former Parish in St. Louis. The whole community was invited including non-members. When he came to Holy Cross he told us we'd eventually be doing the same thing here and this is our first one. Lots of folks showed up for food and fellowship.
Holy Cross provided hot dogs, hamburgers, buns and condiments and members all brought a dish to make this a true BBQ/Potluck. Our members love to cook and serve food to each other and this day was no exception.
Stay tuned to our website for future events and we hope you will join us!

Lake Logan Camping Trip
When one of our members Katy Murphy found out Father Robert had never camped in a tent she leapt into action. What started as something a few people might do turned into a Parish camping trip. Over 50 members went to Lake Logan on Saturday and camped overnight. Some in tents, some in cabins and some in thedorms. But Katy made sure Father Robert camped in a tent.
There were activities for all ages, skits, singing and a Sunday morning service. This is the first time we've done this but we now think it will be an annual event!

Stations of The Cross
We recently commissioned new Stations Of The Cross from artist Sue Zoole. They were dedicated on September 17, 2017 which is also Holy Cross Sunday. This video shows the dedication but more so is a discussion between Father Robert and Sue on how this all came about.

Mission Fair
With so many new members we decided it was time to hold another "Mission Fair". What is a Mission Fair you ask. It's a fair where all the various missions in our church set up information about what they do on tables all around the parish hall. These can range from Altar Guild, To Choir, Youth Programs, Hospitality, Prayer Teams an so on. We do a lot at Holy Cross and a Mission Fair is a great way to let everyone, especially newcomers, know about it. Plus, we know new members want to step up and volunteer and all of these missions have volunteer opportunities!

Murphy Motor Ralley
It was our own Katy Murphy with her trademark forthrightness that finally challenged Kym Manke to 'shift' (gears) or get off the pot after he had been musing about a road rally fundraiser benefiting the organ fund for some time.
And shift they did! Convertibles, T-tops and vintage cars all turned out on a beautiful Saturday in September as 30 travelers met at the Spinxs in Gowensville. The cars included corvettes, a Corvair, convertible Volvo, Mini and Miata, with the star of the show a red (natch) Ferrari. After a big send off the route took the travelers Route 11 to Rosmond and on to the Parkway. The journey ended at the Moose Cafe with a celebratory lunch. The Del Sol brought up the rear, since Ben had the tools and knows how to use them; but no repairs were needed. A huge success—the rally is destined to be an annual event.

NC Transportation Museum
Father Robert loves trains. His Father worked for the railroad in Chicago so you can say it's in his blood. This led to an idea for a field trip to the NC Transportation Museum to see their collection of trains and to also take a train ride. Lots of Holy Cross members of all ages went and all said the day was a lot of fun!
Father Robert even based the next day's sermon on it and you can see that below the photos!
