The Holy Cross Ground Force meets to mow, string trim and blow debris on the grounds of both the church and rectory. There is also occasional weeding and other light duties. The more skilled work such as shrub trimming is done by J. A. Landscaping who are on the grounds 4-5 times per year. Annually we have a spring “mulching day” and a fall “leaf cleaning day”.
Most of the grounds are planted with flowering plants for pollinators, butterflies and birds. The grounds are cared for using sustainable methods using as few chemicals as possible.
We generally do the work Saturday mornings but members will sometimes go on a Friday if that suits their schedule better. The goal is to have the work done by Saturday afternoon so the grounds look good for Sunday. An email is sent out once a week to all members and those who can help that week respond they can. That way it doesn't depend on everyone being there every week.
We love our grounds and caring for them is not only satisfying for us but also great fellowship!
